How Do You Spell Wingnt?

August 29, 2009 by Sungold

Glenn Beck is trying hard to turn himself into a LOLwingnut. (The funny part ends at 1:00.)

(Via Andrew Sullivan)

I have to admit that this is the longest snippet I’ve ever watched of the Glenn Beck show. I’m amazed at how inarticulate the guy is. If he weren’t inspiring crackpots to carry guns to political rallies, he’d be hard to take more seriously than the Church of the Subgenius (see also the Uncyclopedia entry).

I love the church of the sub genius! Everyone needs more slack.

Yeah, I’ve spent my summer trying to accumulate more slack.

The funny part ends at 1:00, say what? The funny part never ends!

Oh crap. I guess I’m not very good at getting the joke.

By the way, I don’t think I managed to comment on your wonderful description of the very un-wonderful town hall you attended. You were either brave or foolish to go into the belly of the beast; as usual there’s a fine line between the two. But I thought your account of it was very revealing, especially the racial segregation of the two town hall meetings. Yikes.

    LOVE Glen’s shoes!

I wish we could just laugh at him as he so richly deserves. Somedays I feel so OLD – I think back to Walter Cronkite, Huntley and Brinkley and Douglas Edwards and just can’t believe what I’m seeing nowadays! If only these guys (and the occasional woman) were still fringe.

      Is he really wearing sneakers?

The way he moves around the stage almost reminds me of a televangelist. Maybe this sort of pacing has become common on cable news and I just don’t watch it enough to recognize it.

I actually shed a few tears over Cronkite’s death this summer. All that fuss about Michael Jackson, but Cronkite’s death said far more to me about what we’ve lost in the past 40 years.

Boy, he really is confusing the idiots. They were gonna have a hard enough time with “oligarchy”. I was initially impressed that he recognized that one letter was missing. But then it went downhill …

    • on September 6, 2009 at 1:01 am Sungold

I was afraid Beck’s head was gonna explode when he realized who the oligarchs actually are … and that the highest ranking of them are his conservative friends! I’m not saying the Dems are outside the oligarchy, only that they’re Jonny-and-Jane-come-latelies.

I suspect things *always* go downhill on Beck’s show, but to confirm that, I’d actually have to watch regularly. And I just don’t have the gumption.
