Strangers keep passing my house and petting my lavender. It’s about three feet tall and apparently irresistible.
The pansies are still looking pretty perky, despite a hot spell and ferocious thunderstorms. The tall round globes are the dried remnants of globe allium.
It’s just starting to bloom, much to the bumble bees’ delight. I wish there were a “blog this” feature on the scent.

Is globe allium edible, good for repelling vampires, or just decorative?
I’m guessing it’s probably edible but would be the priciest onion you’d ever eaten.
I haven’t seen any vampires around here during the past few weeks, so I think you hit it on the head!
See I was getting confused with garlic because of the French word for it. So much to learn.
Glad you’re relatively vampire free. But they can masquerade as insurance sales-people you know.
Onions, garlic, and chives are all allium. The bulbs for these guys look much like a giant garlic clove.
“Relatively vampire free” is scary – all it takes is one!
